ダンス界のエリートという言葉は彼女の為にあるも のと言っても過言ではないだろう。世界のダンスシー ンの中で超人の域を超えたフィメールダンサー、ダニエル・ポランコ。生まれも育ちもブロンクス。プエルトリコとドミニカの血を引く生粋New Yorker のダニエルのダンス人生は4歳の頃より始まる。

地元の公立中学校でクラッシックバレエ、モダン、ジャ ズのトレーニングを学び、さらにサルサ、チャチャ、 サンバ、ウェスト・アフリカンなど多様なスタイル のダンスを学び、バレエ・ヒスパニコではポワント、 フラメンコ、メキシコ舞踊とさらに集中的なトレー ニングを積み重ねる。高校生になるとダンススクー ルの最高峰アルビン・エイリーでバレエ、グラハム、 ホートン、ジャズ、アフリカンなどさらに厳しい訓 練を積むと同時に、ポップ、ヒップホップ、ハウ ス、ストリートジャズなどさらにスタイルの枠を広 げ、彼女のプロダンサーとしてのスタートは17歳で訪れる。

17歳、プロとしての初契約は世界の歌姫Beyonce。

今でも記憶に新しい、OmarionのMV『Touch』で は、主役の彼女という訳で華麗なダンスを披露。その圧倒的なインパクトで彼女を知ったダンサーも多いはずだろう。

その後もOUTCAST主演の映画『Idlewild』にもダンサーとして出演、2008年 には当時アメリカで大ヒットを飛ばしたダンス映画『Step Up 2:The Street』でミッシー・セラーノ訳で女優デビューも果たし『Step Up 3』にも出演している。

その勢いはとどまること を知らず、Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez...などの振付師兼ダンサー、Lady Gaga, Usher, Chris Brown, Nelly, LL Cool J, Amerie...と数々のトップアーティストのショー やMVに出演。*詳細は別途

そして2009年、ブロードウェイでリバイバルされた『West Side Story』ではコンスウェラ役を務めた。ミュージカルの歴史を誇る代表作で歌・演技・ダンスを披露したことは彼女の経歴 のハイライトでもあるだろう。

 

2015にはNBCで生放送された『The Wiz Live!』に出演したのは記憶に新しい。

彼女の活躍はエンターテイメントの表舞台にはとどまらない。

2003年、NYのアンダーグラウ ンドダンスシーンを知った彼女はヴォーグだけではなくハウス、アンダーグラウンドヒップ ホップを踊り始め、今ではそのシーンにも欠かせない存在でトップフィメールダンサーとして称されている。

 

特に最近世界各国で勢いを増すVogue/Ballシーンにおいては、TOPフィメールヴォーガーとして君臨。世界中のフィーメールダンサーたちに大きな影響を与えている。

 

長年のトレーニングで鍛え抜かれたスキルと感性、女性特有のファミニンなスタイルと彼女が持つダンスに対する炎の様なパッションで世界中のダンサーたちの指導にも大きな力を注いでいる。
